Self Referral to the Podiatry Service
SDH&C Podiatry
Inclusion Criteria for Routine Podiatry Care:
Medical
High Risk: Peripheral Vascular Disease, Peripheral Neuropathy (abnormal monofilament sensation)
Medium Risk: HIV, Hep B, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Immunosuppressed, ‘At Risk’ Diabetes, Severe foot deformity, Inherited conditions (eg severe hyperkeratosis), Chemo, Oral Steroids (≥10mg/day)
Podiatric Need
Urgent: Active ulceration, Active Charcot
Non Urgent: Symptomatic, pathological toenail condition such as ingrown toenail, Symptomatic corn or callus/deformity, Musculoskeletal pain
Referrals are accepted based on medical need and associated level of risk with foot problem or medical condition.
Exclusion
Toenail cutting and treatment of minor corns and callus are not provided long term to patients with no specific medical conditions. Diabetic foot checks.
Verruca treatments are not provided by this service
